I personally hate the taste of prunes. Nor do I like the texture. There's just something about prunes that really, really bothers me. I've tried, but it is not possible for me to simply eat a few prunes or drink a glass of [URL(T) prune]prune juice.
BUT, I also realize that prunes are a great way to naturally relieve your [URL(T) constipation]constipation. So, I had to find a way to get past the disgusting taste of prunes, in order to get the benefits from them and help get past my constipation.
This is my little recipe for making a prune smoothie. I've been drinking these for years now. This is the only way I can get prunes in me. It doesn't taste as great as something you will get from Smoothie-King, but it's definitely a better taste than eating prunes by themselves.
Get a blender and drop in some prunes. You can also slice up a [URL(T) plum]plum or two and put that in there, but I prefer the convenience of prunes. Also add two [URL(T) banana]banana's, because foods high in potassium seem to help the elimination process. I also like to add a few strawberries, raspberries or [URL(T) blueberries]blueberries, because they help the smoothie taste better, and also provide many important anti-oxidants.
Now you need a liquid to help blend it all together. I've found that adding just [URL(T) water]water doesn't seem to help the taste. I personally like to add [URL(T) aloe-vera]Aloe Vera Juice, as well as [URL(T) cranberry]cranberry juice. Pretty much any kind of juice will help the taste... but I personally don't like to add any citrus flavors, such as [URL(T) orange]orange juice. Of course, if you add prune juice, that will help relieve your constipation, but only contribute to the prune juice taste. Adding prune juice is the best option, if you don't mind the taste.
I also like to add a few ice-cubes to make it colder. This is an important factor for me.
I also like to add [URL(T) flaxseed]Flaxsee
